Hydration stations began March 29 and will continue each weekend in April at two downtown Morgantown locations. Staff and students will be on the streets and the 2 locations from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.
As warmer weather approaches, nightlife in Morgantown becomes more active, attracting students, residents, and people from surrounding areas. These factors can result in an uptick of alcohol-related incidents.
The Foundry Church on High St. and near the front of the Mountainlair will be staffed by student volunteers, University staff and community members to offer students and guests water, sports drinks, and snacks while helping encourage positive decision making and behaviors.
The hydration stations are sponsored by WVU Student Life (including WVU Collegiate Recovery Center, WELLWVU, and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life), the Greater Morgantown Safe Communities Initiative, the Mon County Prevention Coalition, WVU Student Health Center, as well as support from the Morgantown and University Police Departments.
